Turn Windows 7 into a Wi-Fi hotspot

If you have ever wanted to turn your laptop into a Wi-Fi hotspot, a new feature in Windows 7 which allows you to tether your phone or other wireless device to your laptop.

Open up the Run command with Administrative permissions and run: Start --> All Programs --> Accessories --> Command Prompt --> Right click and click 'Run as Administrator' (type following command)
netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=HotspotName key=YourPassword

Set the network adapter with: (type following command)
netsh wlan start hostednetwork

After running the command, "Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter" must appear in your network and sharing settings.
Enable "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection" under your Sharing tab, under properties.
Now you are good to connect your phone or other wireless device to your laptop and share internet.

What is Ubuntu?

Ubuntu is an operating system built by a worldwide team of expert developers. It contains all the applications you need: a web browser, office suite, media apps, instant messaging and much more. Ubuntu is an open-source alternative to Windows and Office.

New Ubuntu can be run directly from CD / DVD or USB flash drive without any installation or changing your system settings. However, performance is bit slow because it runs from CD/DVD drive. You can use for a while and then decide whether it is suitable for your requirements and you wanna install on your system for faster and better performance and stability.

What is Live CD ?

Live CD is pre-installed Ubuntu OS, which will be run from CD drive and do not required to install on local system.

How to get Live CD ?

You can download the Ubuntu ISO file free from http://www.ubuntu.com/GetUbuntu/download and burn using any software.

Alternatively, you can order the free CD from https://shipit.ubuntu.com/ This might take few weeks so if you have high speed internet connection then just download and burn.

How to install / run ?

Put the Ubuntu CD into the CD/DVD-drive and reboot the computer and make sure that boot device is selected as your CD/DVD-drive. You should see a menu with "Try Ubuntu without any change to your computer" at the top.

Select the language of your choice.

To begin with use the first option so this will not change any of your system settings and run the OS from CD/DVD drive.

Try for some time and see if the new OS is suitable for your all requirements. Normally, it will automatically installed drivers for your Graphics, Sound, Wi-fi, Ethernet, etc and you should be able to use the OS just like new Windows.

P.S : When you shutdown your PC, at this point anything you saved to the desktop or Documents folders and such will vanish - only things you saved into folders on the hard-drive will remain.

Once you decided to install the OS then simply restart the system and select the "Install Ubuntu" option.

You may want to edit your partition before installing Ubuntu on your HDD.

Free Rapidshare Account ?

Sounds good :)

But actually it is not possible to have free Rapidshare account. Even if you manage to hack someone’s account then Rapidshare will automatically detect based on IP address of the downloader and sends an email to owner with changed password. My account was hacked for 6 hours and Rapidshare has sent me an email with new password.

So practically you may manage to hack someone’s account for a day or two but for long run this will not work at all.

Sony Ericsson has released an update R1CA037 which fixes several problems with the phone. After the update there are some noticeable changes in the phone, like the speaker volume has increased, touch screen response has been improved, the camera quality has improved in night. How to increase Virtual Memory on Windows ?

You can easily increase virtual memory by following the steps below. Before going into the details, let us understand what is Virtual Memory.

What is Virtual Memory?

Virtual memory is simulated RAM. When you have used up all your RAM, your computer will shift data to an empty space on the hard drive. The computer swaps data to the hard disk and back to your RAM as needed. When you increase your virtual memory you are increasing the empty space that is reserved for your RAM overflow.

Option 1:

In Windows XP

1.Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
2.Click Performance and Maintenance, and then click System.
3.On the Advanced tab, under Performance, click Settings.
4.On the Advanced tab, under Virtual memory, click Change.
5.Under Drive [Volume Label], click the drive that contains the paging file that you want to change.
6.Under Paging file size for selected drive, click to Custom size check box. You can enter the amount of memory you would like to reserve for Virtual memory by entering the initial and maximum size.
7.Click Set
When you are prompted to restart the computer, click Yes.
Special Note: You should choose the same amount for the initial size and maximum size. This will Stop your CPU from constantly changing the paging file.

TIP: To stop your CPU from constantly changing the paging file, set the initial and maximum size to the same value. Ideally the value should be at least 1.5 times more than your physical RAM. If your computer has 512MB of RAM increase the virtual memory paging file to 1.5*512= 768

In Vista

1. Click Start button Picture of the Start button
2. Click Control Panel
3. Choose System and Maintenance and then click System.
4. In the left pane, click Advanced system settings.
5.On the Advanced tab, under Performance, click Settings.
6. Click the Advanced tab, and then, under Virtual memory, choose Change.
7. Click Custom to change the Initial size (MB) and Maximum size. See the hot tip above.

Remember to choose the drive you would like to use to increase the virtual memory. In most cases it usually your C: Drive. You can set the initial size and maximum size after clicking the Custom size check box.Remember its better to keep the Virtual memory values the same.

Also having enough available space is absolutely necessary for your virtual memory and RAM to function properly.

First of all Thank you to tinpak5536 from SKSApps.com (I did few small changes) and other people not me. I'm only a user and tried the below step by step guild to make it working.

Need Tools :

PS2LOAD (See below for download)
UltraISO (All version that can made PS2 image)

This Tutorial I will use PES2009

Step by Step
1.Patch your ISO file using USBUtil / DNAS Swap if needed and open image file with UltraISO and extract any where you want
If you don't know what you USBUtil / DNAS Swap and how to use it, please read my other post "PS2 : What is USBUtil ? How to use USBUtil ? (by ISEKO)" for more information.

2.Extract all files in PS2LOAD.rar to your game

3.open file MSYSTEM.CNF to Edit like this

Free McBoot FMCB alternative for PS2 Console:SCPH-90004

Free McBoot doesnot work on newer version of Ps2 (SCPH-90004).
Sony has changed the bios after March 08 and fix the critical defect which allows programs like FMCB to boot PS2 using memory card.
The only options are...

Mod Chip : I don't recommend Mod Chip unless you don't have any other option as this will void your PS2 warranty.

How and Where you can use USBUtil?

- This software runs on Windows and can be executed from any folder or root, flash memory or external hard-drive. The already concerted games can be copied or saved in any destination with enough capacity. You can also create games for any platform using ISOs or game backups (this option concerns the possibility of keeping the biggest amount of compatibility, due to with USBExtreme directly from disc some games are imposible to run but they from ISO they do, that option will make us to save the time we spent converting the game two times). USBUtils allows to convert several ISO(s) into games at consecutively, and next options as well: Copy, Move, Convert into ISO and Erase can be used on several games.

What does USBUtil need to work?

The software needs to work the game files already created with the configuration file( ul.cfg), or the creation of a new one across the ISO(s) or backup of our game cd/dvds . If ISO file is being patched then you need to load ISO file using USBExtreme on your USB HDD.

Free AVI to DivX Conversion

It is very easy to convert existing AVI files to DivX ones (which can be played on PS2 using SMS or other media player of PS2), using a freeware program called VirtualDub. You'll need following utilities.
1) VirtualDub --> http://www.virtualdub.org/
2) DivX Codecs --> http://www.divx-digest.com/software/divxcodec.html
3) MP3 codec --> http://www.riphelp.com/downloads/mp3.html (Optional)

After installation, start VirtualDub and follow below simple steps..

File menu => Open video file - the orginal un-encoded AVI file
In the "Video" menu, select "compression", and set it to the DivX Codec. You may optionally set Codec settings, like keyframes and bitrate. Please see this page for more information.
Still in the Video menu, select the option "Full processing mode".
If your orginal AVI had audio, please find out what frequency it is (right click on the file and select "properties", it should be listed in the "Details" section).
Still in the Audio menu, select the option "AVI audio"
Go to the Audio menu and select "compression", and set it to MPEG-3 with frequency matching that of your original AVI file, and also bitrate to at least 96. You may need to turn on the "Show all format" option to see all available options.
Still in the Audio menu, select the option "Full processing mode"
Finally, go to the file menu and select "Save AVI", and choose a name for the file (make it different to the name of the original AVI), and in a few minutes (depending on the size of your original AVI file), you'll have a perfect DivX AVI file.

Do you have a large collection of DVD's or DivX movies , but don't know how to play them independently on your TV without DVD(Media) player or Do you have a Playstation 2 but don't know how to make an optimum use of your investment?

Step 1: You need...

Extract the CDGenPS2 zip file to any location on your drive. Launch the CDGenPS2 exe file.

Drag all the files in the application which you have download (i.e SMS.elf, USB.irx, System.cnf)

Right click on "System.cnf" and click "Edit", check "Fix LBA", type 12231 in LBA "text box"

Click File->Create CD then Save

Voila! Burn to a CD (not DVD) using any of your favourite CD-Writer software.

Step 4:

Place the newly created CD into your PS2. Power On.

After the SMS player loads up. Replace the CD, with any DVD or CD which contains the DivX / Xvid or MP3's, just browse and play the files.

If you want, I have created a CD-Image for you. Download SMS Player CD-Image Zip, extract it, then burn it to your CD.

How to use sony cd dvd generator

Download Sony CD DVD generator and launch.

Select Create new project from File --> New
Select CD / DVD based on type of media you are using...
Drag and Drop your extracted ISO files and make a note of XXXX_NNN.NN file in my case it is SLUS_217.01
Click on Volume and type the below information.
Click on Rec and save the iml file
You may get following error but ignore... :)
Start the recording from File --> Export and save the file.
This will create image with xxx.000, xxx.001, xxx.002 based on the file size

Go to start (of your windows) --> run --> type 'cmd'
Now to merge all the 00N files use following command
copy /b xxx.000 + xxx.001 +xxx.002 xxx.iso

Now load this ISO file using Magic Disk and USB Extreme and njoy playing :)

How to use Swap Magic

The very first step you have to take when using the Swap Magic Discs, is to power up your Playstation 2 console, and insert either the DVD or the CD Version of your Swap Magic discs. The DVD Version of the Swap Magic is used for loading up DVD based backup and import Playstation 2 games, while the CD Version of the Swap Magic is used for booting up CD Based backup or import games. Though many of the newest games are only on DVD now, there is still a large library of CD based Playstation 2 software, especially import software or DVD-Rips as they are called.

Once you have loaded up the Swap Magic main menu, you will be greeted by 2 different menu options. The LOAD PROGRAM option is the one you'll want to us, in order to load your import order backup or import Playstation 2 game. The Video Mode Option is equally as useful, but only if you have to change the video mode of your system from PAL to NTSC or vice versa. This is not an option you need to worry about 99% of the time. Simply select the Load Program option and push the button on your controller. This will take you to the SWAP DISC screen.

You will need to swap your Swap Magic disc with the game disc of your choice. You can do this with the included Slide Tool / Slide Card accessory. You can find out Ps2 Slide Tool Instructions by following the link. Naturally, if you don't wish to use a slide tool, but would instead like to use PS2 Filp Tops (PS2 Covers designed for the large PS2 Console, which allow swapping of discs) then you can take a look at some of the PS2 Flip Top Cover products. While these require a replacement of the top of your PS2 cover, they are an excellent and easy way to swap your discs.

After you've swapped your game disc, by taking out the swap magic disc, you'll be able to immediately start playing your game. Both import and backup games will load up, and play as if though you had not gone through any type of swap process with the Swap Magic discs.

burn the ulaunch disk on a cd using whatever software, i think nero works / DVD decrypter works.

then get the media player (Or you may find the latest version)

and put that .elf file into your usb drive along with whatever media files

boot up the ulaunch disk. plug in your usb whenever.
after ulaunch loads, press "circle" to get to the main menu, then go to "mass:" (circle is to go forward, x is back), so yeh select mass: which will look into your usb drive
. then load up the SMS player 2.5 .elf file.

that'll load up SMS Player, i think you have to configure it the first time for SMS to load up the USB drive. so press Start once the player loads and select something like, "AutoStart USB" then the USB icon should appear near the top beside the CD icon. get out of the settings with triangle i guess, and select the USB icon, then whatever media file. x just loads it, circle gives you the option to load it with sub files if you have them.

PS2 USB Advance / USB Extreme black / blank screen DNAS Swap

Getting Black screen when loading your game using USB Advance / USB Extreme. Follow below steps for me and sevral others it worked... It is called "DNAS Swap for USBExtreme" or "DNAS300 Swap"

1) Rip the DVD to your computer
2) Do a search on the ripped files for DNAS???.img (For me it was in the "Modules" subdirectory - and there may be more than one DNASxxx.img file, though of course with different numbers, like DNAS280.img and DNAS300.img).
3) Delete all DNASxxx.img files (Make note of the xxx number(s))
4) Search IOPRxxx.img and rename IOPRxxx.img to DNASxxx.img (it must have the same number and may exist on the same DVD, if not you can get it from a completely different PS2 game as long as the xxx number is the same - the size may be different. you no longer have the IOPRxxx.img files; Games worked fine without them
5) Rebuild the image from the ripped files on your computer with the new DNASxxx.img file(s) (I used Sony CDVDGEN for this - Make sure they are in the same order as on the original DVD)
6) Copy/b (binary) the *.00? files back together into one ISO in a DOS window
7) Mount the ISO on a virtual DVD drive (I used the Magic Disk program)
8) Connect the USB hard drive you will use for your PS2 to your computer9) Use UI_INSTALL / USB Extreme to copy the game onto your USB Hard Drive from the virtual DVD drive10) Disconnect your USB hard drive from the computer, connect it to the PS2, and give it a try!

2) Free McBoot : You need to Install free McBoot on you PS2 memory card but you PS2 should be older than March 2008 in order to use Free McBoot. Sony has fixed this bug on new version of PS2.

3) Mod Chip : Using mod chip you can play backup games but this will void your warranty as you are unscrwing your PS2.
